I’m a software engineer in North Carolina. I studied computer science at Appalachian State, where data science and computer systems were my favorite areas. I joined Inmar Intelligence in 2022 and started out as a new grad building microservices on Hadoop. Now I’m working as a tech lead and the scrum master for two teams. I recently led a division-wide migration to OAuth 2.0 and Auth0, and right now I’m leading a greenfield app that’s launching soon.

Most of my focus is on data and distributed systems, mainly event-driven microservices in Java and Go running on Kubernetes in GCP. A lot of my work has been on systems that really can’t go down, like auth for a whole division, financial processing pipelines, and platforms that handle multi-terabyte healthcare datasets. I also helped my teams start using AI in our work. I pushed for good practices early on and got everyone involved in deciding how we use it, and now both teams ship code safely and efficiently with AI agents every day.

Outside of work I’m usually building something, and I still write low-level code by hand to keep my skills sharp. Right now I’m working on a social recipe platform where I practice building useful AI-powered features. I’ve also been researching and experimenting with algorithmic trading, reading, developing strategies, backtesting them, and running paper bots. One of them is currently running live against an exchange, actively trading, and net positive. I built the infrastructure and systems for me to reliably iterate and deploy strategies, monitor and manage active bots from anywhere, and deterministically manage risk. When a program runs on its own with real money on the line, it has to be reliable, and I love challenges like that.

When I’m not coding, I’m usually at the gym, reading, or playing video games.
